Cindy Marleau

I was bitten with the travel bug at the age of 16 and have loved the adventure ever since! Having traveled the South Pacific, Caribbean, Mexico and the USA, it was not until I traveled for a year with my three young teenagers and husband in 2001 did I realized that the our world was the classroom. From the Great Wall of China, to the colourful cultures of India through Thailand to the Sultan of Malaysia, the children of Bangladesh to the riches of Monaco and meeting Mona did my eyes open to the amazing diversities and magic of our world. Not until you stand on the battlefields of France or walk on the Bridge over the River Kwai do you really see history. The biggest gift to me has been able to see it all again through the eyes of students and to understand that the value of a well organized tour is everything.

Travel has always been a way of life in my family. I was born in England, and throughout my childhood witnessed my father play in the premiership of English football. Travel was just a way of life back then and that passion for travel, and a hunger to learn about different cultures is what inspires me to share those experiences with teachers and students alike. I’ve traveled extensively throughout Europe, North and South America, and Africa and I strongly believe that the world is a classroom. It’s one thing to read about the earth’s beauty but it is another thing to experience it first hand. My vision is to help mold young minds through my experiences as a world traveller.

Bonjour,
I was born in Normandy, France and have lived in many places including 30 years in Paris. As a tour guide, chef, educator, film maker and writer, my experiences have allowed me to travel and live my dreams. My love of cooking and teaching have given me the opportunity to host workshops around the world. Most recently in Alberta and soon to return to Canada in fall. Sharing my travel experiences and now managing for Travel Your World is another great adventure that I look forward to as well as to meet and travel with you.

I was born and raised in Venice, hometown of Marco Polo, city of merchants and
explorers. I graduated in art history and since I was a teenager I cultivated a passion for travelling, discovering new cultures, new customs and new people that share the same roof, our sky; sometimes moving for long times, sometimes just for few days, but always aiming for acquaintance, in primis of myself. This feeling that enlightens my path, is the same feeling that encourages the passion for my job.
I travelled around all the continents ( just missing Antarctic!) and led groups first of all around Italy, Europe and South America, always looking for letting the people immerse themselves in the true reality of the place, till they forget to be tourists!

I have worked as a travel guide for the past eight years and now as a Tour Director and Manager for Travel Your World. It is important as a travel guide, especially working with young students, not only to be able to hold their attention when passing on the necessary information, but also to make them relax and enjoy themselves. Being able to 'connect' with them is definitely a major part of the job. Since 2003 until now, I been travelling all of Europe and North Africa. I speak five languages, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and English and I love all kind of sports because I am a very active person. I am a very enthusiastic young person and look forward to the future with working for Travel Your World. I find this type of work very enjoyable and always seem to be discovering new ways of achieving the different tasks involved which I find stimulating. I believe in living in the moment, and nothing brings you into the present better than travel. We spend so much of our lives living in the past or thinking about the future that we rarely are just in the current moment. A big part of travel is living in the moment, paying attention to everything and developing new relationships. All of these experiences give us personal insights and expand our view of ourselves and other people we share our travel experience with like students. Even though I've been to certain destinations before, it's a new experience because the people are new. While you are taking in the sights and sounds you are also taking in people's stories and sharing in their life. Different personalities bring different things to the experience and
that's always fun.

It has been my privilege to have been traveling with my students for the past sixteen years. Watching my students discover the world outside of our city, for themselves, has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. It gives me a chance to spend time with students outside of the classroom and share my passion for the arts, different cultures, different languages and different foods. To see the world open up for these young people, to watch them gain self confidence and a new appreciation for their own culture, heritage, language and lifestyle as Canadians is very exciting. Their experiences in Europe and South America have enriched and made real their school curriculum in a way that the classroom never can. Travel has been one of the most special gifts I have been able to give my students.

I was born in Buenos-Aires, Argentina, of a french father and an english mother. As a child, my parents took me and my brothers and sister travelling around the world and discovering all the beauty and marvels it contains. This privileged and multicultural childhood has prepared and developed in me a love and passion for travelling which I have been fortunate enough to be able to express fully in my work. I have worked as a tour guide for many years and I have always enjoyed and appreciated this feeling of sharing with people, students or adults alike, coming to Europe my great passion for travelling, for history, culture, and gourmet food. Seeing them smile when they visit with me the wonders I'm bringing them to see, hearing them say that they are having "the time of their life" is a profound satisfaction. Nothing better as a job than to bring joy to people!
