International flight to Barcelona
DAY 2
Join Travel Your World on a guided city tour with a visit to Mercat de sant Josep - La Boqueria, the famous food market of Barcelona. Also explore the historic quarter of Barcelona - the Gothic Quarter. This area is full of fascinating architecture including Barcelona Cathedral and the remains of the Roman walls, Gaudi's Park Guell and Sagrada Familia. In this area you will see the neighborhoods in which the great painters Picasso and Miro grew up. Later, enjoy an original Spanish dinner to taste the Catalan specialties.
DAY 3
Today you travel, by train, north along the Catalunian coast to Figueres, Spain. Figueres is the birthplace of the famous artist Salvador Dali (1904-1989), and houses the Dalí Theatre-Museum, see the largest surrealistic object in the world, which occupies the building of the former Municipal Theatre. Even the building that houses his work is considered a work of art. Later that afternoon enjoy some supervised time on La Rambla, one of Spain's most famous shopping streets and a natural gathering spot for tourists and locals alike. Barcelona's old city is, without doubt, one of the finest of Southern Europe. This wide boulevard connects the Place de Catalunya, a busy square, to the Monument a Colom, a tall column erected in honor of Christopher Columbus.
DAY 4
Your tour in Barcelona ends today with a visit to the Picasso Museum, which houses one of the most extensive collections by the 20th century painter. In the afternoon embark on your high-speed journey to the Capital of Spain, Madrid. Upon arrival, check into your centrally located hotel and begin your journey with an orientation walk of the marvelous gardens and districts that surround the Royal Palace. Walk along The Gran Via and Alcala Street later in the evening enjoy a traditional Tapa's dinner.
DAY 5
Begin your day with a guided tour of Madrid. This half day tour highlights some of Madrid's famous avenues and historic quarters, see The Opera, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de la Villa, Las Ventas bullring and Santiago Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid football team. After lunch continue to the Prado Museum. This 18th century Neo-Gothic building is home to masterpieces by Goya, Velázquez, Murillo and El Greco.
DAY 6
After breakfast begin your half-day excursion to the medieval pink city of Toledo. Located 70km from Madrid it is one of the oldest cities in Europe and it is known as “the city of three cultures”. Toledo was the former capital of Spain and the beautiful architecture includes almost every period in Spain's history including; Arab, Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance, and Baroque. Toledo is also famed for it's production of iron products especially swords. During your visit you will witness first hand how these famous swords are made.
DAY 7
Your day begins with your transfer via high-speed train to the Andalucian capital of Seville. Upon arrival check into your centrally located hotel and after a short break begin your journey with a guided tour of this magnificent city. See the Alcazares Reales, Maria, Luisa Park, Plaza de Espana, Torre del Oro and the Cathedral of Seville, with it's impressive bell tower, La Giralda. Later that afternoon enjoy some supervised time on Calle Mateos Gago before dinner and your evening of Flamenco.
DAY 8
After an early morning breakfast begin your journey to the former Moorish Kingdom of Granada and journey through the Spanish sierra at an elevation of 738 meters above sea level en-route to the magnificent Alhambra Palace. This Moorish fortress fell to the reign of Isabelle and Ferdinand in the 14th century AD. Despite Catholic reign, the Alhambra still retains intact of it's Moorish Mudejar architecture. Later that afternoon visit the Granada Cathedral and the surrounding moor vendors. That evening enjoy a traditional Spanish dinner a la paeya!
DAY 7
Today travel to the old historic centre of Malaga and the birthplace of the great Pablo Picasso. During your visit to Malaga visit The Cathedral, Gibralfaro, The Alcazaba, La Fundacion De Picasso, Flavian Roman Theatre and Calle Larios, the main commercial street in the city. Later that afternoon board you motor coach en-route to the British Colony of Gibraltar, please don't forget your passports!! Explore the St Michael's Cave, The Apes Den, Great Siege Tunnel and The Moorish Castle. Later spend some supervised time on Main Street. Gibraltar is known as duty free zone and the art of bartering is practiced even among its residents. Dinner can be enjoyed at any one of the countries Irish, British, Moroccan, Spanish or Western Eateries.
DAY 8
Travel to Morocco - After breakfast enjoy some free time in this vacationers paradise before your departure to the port city of Tarifa and continue with a crossing to Tangiers, Morocco. Once you have gone through customs, your official Moroccan guide will welcome you to Tangier, Morocco. Makhababikoum.
DAY 9
A morning walk investigates both the traditional walled Muslim city and the relics of the famous turn-of-the-century international city—visit the Anglican Church, the Kasbah quarter, including the museum, the Petit Socco square and the Mendoubia garden. In the afternoon, you will visit the Cape Spartel, the northwestern extremity of Africa's Atlantic coast. Return for dinner & overnight in Tangier.
Day 10
Continue on to Tetouan —the heirs of Granada. Drive east over the Anjera hills to the city of Tetouan, settled by refugees from Andalucia whose Moorish culture is clearly identifiable in the streets of the old city, the products of the artisan school and the archaeological museum—drive south to Chefchaouen, the prettiest city of the kingdom. Continue on to Fès for dinner and overnight.
DAY 11
Fes, a city founded by Moulay Idriss II in 800 years, it is the most ancient between all the imperial cities. The extraordinary walled medieval city that stands at the heart of Moroccan culture and .is the fabled city from 1001 Arabian Nights. Visit the Bou Inania Madrassa and the Karaouyine Mosque tour the city walls founded by Sultan Moulay Idriss II in the year 800, visit Bab Boujeloud, the famous Blue Gate leading to médersé Attarîn and Bou Inania known by the richness of their interior decoration. Walk in the souks (markets), with its multicoloured spices, with drums and boilerworks, trays and chisels, teapots and vases. After visit the Zaouia of Sultan Moulay Idriss, home of the Idriss II shrine.
DAY 12
Travel to Casablanca for your International Flight home.
